What I thought about the book:
Wow!! I said finally so many times reading this book!!!
Amazing, it was everything I wanted and so much more and of course now I’m dying for the next one.

My only complaint is that the action scenes sometimes slow down the story and I ended up skimming them a bit after a while. Chance writes great action scenes but I’ve noticed with the last 2/3 books they’re getting more frequent and it kinda stalls the story. Cassie does often make important discoveries during them but there’s more than one way to do that.

***Some Spoilers Ahead***
Some great things about this book:
  • Cassie finally starts taking charge of situations
  • We get so many questions answered
  • Pritkin!!! So much amazing Pritkin stuff
  • We find out what Mircea is really about
  • A certain someone finally makes an appearance

There’s a lot of really interesting character development in this one, especially with Rosier and Roger. Fatherly love seems to be a bit of a theme here with three Dads influencing Cassie in major ways.

And Mircea! I always really liked Mircea (but loved Pritkin) but after this, I’m not sure how I feel. Especially after the last few sentences of the conclusion.

What I thought about the book: A lot of people don’t know Mead has written series for adults (she wrote Vampire Academy) and this is definitely for adults. There is a lot of sex and sexual situations in this book but it never crosses the line into erotica. Amazingly it all fits the story.
Eugenie is a better rounded character than usually seen in urban fantasy. She kicks ass but she also makes mistakes and not in the stupid way characters do sometimes. She makes an educated mistake.

What I thought about the book: Great addition to the series though I didn’t enjoy it as much as previous books. It was very similar to Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night (Rydstrom even mentions it in the book) but not as good. I found the ending a little anticlimactic but overall it was a fun read.

First Grave on the Right – Darynda Jones

8788554Title: First Grave on the Right

Author: Darynda Jones

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Series: Charley Davidson #1

Goodreads Rating: 4.07/5

Synopsis: This whole grim reaper thing should have come with a manual.
Or a diagram of some kind.
A flow chart would have been nice.
Charley Davidson is a part-time private investigator and full-time grim reaper. Meaning, she sees dead people. Really. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (like murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely. But what does he want with Charley? And why can’t she seem to resist him? And what does she have to lose by giving in?With scorching-hot tension and high-octane humor, First Grave on the Right is your signpost to paranormal suspense of the highest order.

What I thought about the book: Oh, my god! This was awesome, I loved it so much!!! I’m really tempted to binge the series but I made a reading plan for March. What on earth did I do something so silly for?!!!
I’ve never read anything so witty and quick. Charley unleashes zing after zing.
Not a single character is minor, they are all bursting with life and filling the pages.
The plot will reel you in and keep you guessing right to the end.
Loved it!!

What I thought about the book:
When I read the title for this one I thought it was going to be about Amun….for some reason I think whispers mean secrets.
Sabin was one of my least liked characters from previous books so I wasn’t too pushed on reading this one. I ended up really enjoying it. The world expands greatly with this book, it becomes more than a run of the mill paranormal romance.
