1. How many books do you currently own?
I have no idea. A ridiculous amount of ebooks and quite a few print books. It’s just too easy to keep getting ebooks with eARC’s, freebies and such low prices. The only reason I don’t have as many print books is that I’m limited with space.
2. How many books are you currently reading?
I’ve been in a little bit of a reading slump the last few weeks. I started a reread of A Discovery of Witches last night. I’m doing a study of the book for my own enjoyment so I read the first chapter, marking points of interest and I’ll be adding notes to it today before starting the next chapter. Anyone else do stuff like this or am I a bit nutty?…
3. Choose a couple books you read but didn’t enjoy?
I very rarely finish a book if I’m not enjoying it. Life is too short to waste time like that. Some of the ones I didn’t manage to finish are The Girl Who Loved Tome Gordon by Stephen King (boooring), Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost (a lazy tropefest with vapid characters) and Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning (don’t get me started on this book IT WAS THE WORST). I hate being mean about books because their enjoyment is entirely subjective so if I was mean about a book you loved just ignore me 😉
4. A cover buy?
This was a request not a buy but it was initiated by the cover. A Christmas Carol Murder by Heather Redmond. I haven’t read it yet but I love the design of the cover. That font 😍
5. A book you own but hate the cover of?
Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews. I didn’t read this book for ages because I thought the cover was so cringe even though I have loved every single thing I’ve read from them before. I should not have been so judgmental cause this book was fantastic!! From the cover, I got the implication that it was going to be a contemporary military romance but it’s urban fantasy with lots of action and a slow-burn romance.
6. A book you haven’t read in years?
I haven’t read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows since it was released in 2007. I was listening to the audiobooks a while ago but stopped before I reached this book. I honestly have no idea why…. I’m currently reading the illustrated versions at a very slow pace so maybe I’ll be ready to reread this by the time its illustrated edition comes out.
7. A book you will always recommend?
Falling for a Dancer by Deirdre Purcell 😁 People must be sore in the face from hearing me mention this book so much. This is the book I recommend in general but I would recommend something else depending on the person asking.
8. All time favorite book series?
Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole. Paranormal romance on the darker side of the scale. I freaking love this series! There are 17.5 books out so far and each one was a binge read for me. I don’t know how she does it but even when I think I’m not in a reading mood, once I start one of her books I cannot stop reading. Cole is a pro at creating tension.
9. Where do you read?
Mostly in bed when I should really be sleeping.
10. What are the last two books you gave a 5 star rating? And why?
Till Death is really not my usual kind of book but I’ve been so impressed with Armentrout’s writing in other books I decided to give it a whirl. I actually found it kind of scary (ghosts or ghoulies don’t frighten me but a serial killer is freaking terrifying) but the romance was toe-curlingly yummy and I was totally surprised by who the killer was. It was an entirely engaging book.
The Vagina Book is essential reading. It discusses vaginal health in an informative, accepting and very approachable way. It manages to broach a subject that makes a lot of people squirm in a way that puts you at ease and makes it all feel normal. Which is how it should feel.
Now, as always I tag you!! Please feel free to do this tag too 😊
