The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter

Author: Gena Showalter
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Series: Lords of the Underworld #1
Goodreads Rating: 4.1/5
Why I read this: TBR reading challenge

His powers – Inhuman…

His passion – Beyond immortal…

All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she’ll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member — a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments… and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction — and a soul-shattering test of love…
Though they carry an eternal curse, the Lords of the Underworld are irresistibly seductive — and unimaginably powerful…

What I thought about the book:
This was great, definitely a series I could obsess over! The story is very original but has the same feel as Kresley Cole’s Immortals after Dark and J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood.
I wasn’t too gone on Ashlyn, though. Can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about her but I mostly felt meh for her.
I liked Maddox but how the man is able to function every day after what he goes through every night, I have no idea!
Favourite Character: Torin
My Rating:
4 paws
